Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has achieved remarkable success at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Indian Ocean Category, securing two prestigious awards for the Maldives. The accolades were presented at the World Travel Awards Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony, held at the Johari Rotana Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 28 June 2025.
The prestigious titles that the Maldives secured were Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2025 and Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination 2025. This is the Maldives’ sixth consecutive win of the Indian Ocean's Leading Destination Award, and the second consecutive win of the Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination Award.
MMPRC’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree joined the awarding ceremony to receive the awards.
Speaking on receiving these prestigious awards again this year, Shiuree said the accolades from the Maldives tourism industry are incredibly significant, and highlights the Maldives' position as an unmatched tourist destination. This underscores the nation's dedication to providing unforgettable experiences for visitors globally, and affirms MMPRC's ongoing efforts to promote and develop the tourism sector, he said.
