Govt Opens Tender for Islamic Centres and Mosques on 14 Islands

The government has opened competitive bidding for the construction of 14 religious facilities, including four Islamic centres and ten mosques across the archipelago, the Ministry of Finance and Planning announced. Interested firms must submit proposals through the official procurement portal by 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 16 July. Submissions will be opened the following morning at 11 a.m.

The four Islamic centres are slated for construction in Ihavandhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, Funadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Naifaru in Lhaviyani Atoll and Villingili in Gaafu Alifu Atoll. For the Ihavandhoo, Funadhoo and Villingili projects, contractors are required to provide a security deposit of USD 6,616.93. The centre planned for Naifaru carries a higher bid security of USD 8,173.45.

The initiative also includes tenders for mosques in ten additional communities: Meedhoo in Raa Atoll; Guraidhoo in Kaafu Atoll; Mathiveri in Alifu Alifu Atoll; Fenfushi in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll; Feeali in Faafu Atoll; Rinbudhoo in Dhaalu Atoll; and Nadellaa, Madaveli, Hoadedhdhoo and Faresmaathodaa in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

All contracts will be awarded under the National Competitive Bidding framework, which the ministry said is designed to ensure transparency and equal opportunity across all stages of procurement.
