The Ministry of Finance and Planning has announced for interested contractors for the harbour upgrade project of Rathafandhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, during his visit to Rathafandhoo as part of his tour of several islands in the Huvadhu Atoll—Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls in January, had pledged address the concerns over the island harbour.
The President had underscored the community's aspiration for harbour development and confirmed that Rathafandhoo's harbour would be developed as part of the administration's initiatives this year.
In line with the presidential pledge, the Ministry has now opened the opportunity to submit bids for the Rathafandhoo harbour upgrade project.
The Ministry said the project will be implemented on a design and build basis and all documents related to the project will be available on its website.
Bids for the project must be submitted through the bid portal by 1:00 pm on 23 July with the bid opening scheduled for 10:00 am the following day.
Under the project, 221 meters of outer embankment, installation of harbour lights, 21 meters of revetment, construction of 312.7 meters of jetty and sand filling will be carried out.
