Development of Immigration Office for Alifu Dhaalu Awarded to Mahibadhoo-Based Mets

The development of an immigration office in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll has been awarded to Mets, a Mahibadhoo-based sole proprietorship.

Speaking to PSM News, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Council’s President Ali Naseer said the immigration office will be established in Mahibadhoo, with practical work on the project commencing immediately.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Atoll Council on Tuesday, with Council President Ali Naseer signing on behalf of the Council, and Mets represented by its owner, Ali Riza.

According to the agreement, the project must be completed and handed over within one month. Once operational, immigration services will be easily accessible to residents of the atoll. The project is part of the Council's official work plan for this year.

Expanding national identity cards and passport issuance service across the Maldives is a key policy of President Dr Mohammed Muizzu. The nationwide efforts to decentralise this service was launched on 16 November last year.
