President Muizzu Undertakes Four-Day Tour of Noonu Atoll to Consult Communities and Launch Key Infrastructure Projects

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu commenced a four-day tour of Noonu Atoll on Monday, undertaking a wide-ranging visit to the region's 13 inhabited islands with the aim of addressing community concerns and inaugurating several government-led development initiatives.

The itinerary, announced by the President's Office, includes scheduled stops at Hen'badhoo, Holhudhoo, Lhohi, Kudafari, Ken'dhikulhudhoo, Velidhoo, Manadhoo, Magoodhoo, Maalhendhoo, Maafaru, Miladhoo, Fodhdhoo, and Landhoo. Over the course of the tour, President Muizzu is expected to convene with island councils and women's development committees to discuss infrastructure priorities and gather feedback on socio-economic matters. In-person engagement will also be undertaken to evaluate residents' well-being and immediate needs.

Development efforts form a central part of the visit, with projects slated for launch including the construction of fitness and recreation centres and the establishment of additional police posts on selected islands. The president is also scheduled to initiate infrastructural enhancements to schools and health centres, consistent with his administration's broader commitment to strengthening public service delivery nationwide.

This regional tour represents a continuing initiative by President Muizzu to visit each of the country's administrative divisions. Designed to reinforce decentralised governance, the programme involves sustained dialogue with councils at the island, atoll, and municipal levels and prioritises locally driven development.

Joining President Muizzu on the visit are several cabinet ministers and senior officials from key government agencies, underscoring a collective approach to community outreach and implementation. The delegation is expected to conclude its engagements and return to the capital, Malé, on Thursday.
