The central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has awarded scholarships to 15 candidates for Master’s- level studies in Islamic Finance.
The scholarships were officially handed over to recipients by the Minister of Education, Dr Ismail Shafeeu, during a special ceremony held at the MMA headquarters on Sunday.
The scholarship will provide recipients with the opportunity to enrol in the Executive Masters in Islamic Finance course at INCEIF University, Malaysia. The programme is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to promote business growth and socio-economic development.
Of the 15 scholarships, five are fully funded, while the remaining ten are partially funded.
The Executive Masters in Islamic Finance is a course developed by world-renowned scholars specialising in the fields of conventional and Sharia-compliant finance, aimed at professionals working in the field. The course has a comprehensive curriculum that aims to enhance leadership skills, deepen understanding of Islamic finance, and empower students to bring about desirable changes within their institutions and communities.
The scholarships are part of the MMA's strategic objectives to further strengthen human capacity in the growing Islamic finance sector in the Maldives.
