Gov’t Offers Scholarships to Cultivate New Generation of Historians, Researchers

The National Centre for Cultural Heritage (NCCH) has launched a significant initiative to bolster the preservation and understanding of the nation's rich cultural legacy, offering 40 scholarships in the field of heritage.

This ambitious programme aims to cultivate a new generation of competent historians and researchers, ultimately deepening the body of knowledge surrounding Maldivian heritage.

The fully government funded ‘Signature Research Scholarships’ are designed for a two-year Masters Degree in Research and Publications conducted by the Maldives Islamic University.

Participants will be required to commit two days per month working at the NCCH, gaining practical experience and directly contributing to heritage studies. Beyond covering all course fees, the scholarship promises invaluable opportunities for scholars to immerse themselves in various heritage arts and to publish their scientific and research findings, ensuring tangible contributions to the field.

Prospective applicants must hold a Level 7, 8, or 9 qualification within the National Qualifications Framework of Maldives. The deadline for applications, which must be submitted via a Google Form link with further details provided in the Government Gazette scholarship announcement, is set for 2:00 pm on the 25 September.

This concerted effort by the NCCH underscores a vital commitment to safeguarding and promoting Maldivian heritage for future generations.
