The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has announced a series of webinars, organised in collaboration with foreign embassies, to provide information to potential investors on islands opened for tourism development. The webinars are scheduled to take place next week.
The sessions will be conducted jointly with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Finance and Planning and Maldivian embassies abroad. They will be held on 15, 16 and 17 of this month, each targeting a different region: Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
Officials from the three ministries will brief participants on the Maldives’ tourism sector, environmental policies, and investment prospects. Participating investors will also have the opportunity to engage with officials and ask questions.
The Ministry of Tourism recently opened the opportunity to invest in halal tourism in the Maldives. Five regions of the country have been earmarked for halal tourism development, with one island in each region already opened for investment. Information on this initiative will be provided to investors during the sessions. The deadline for submission of bids for these islands has been extended until 15 October.
