First Lady and WAGGGS Chair Discuss Future and Challenges of Girl Guide Movement

First Lady and Chief Guide Sajidha Mohamed met with Niumath Shafeeq, the newly elected Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), along with members of the Maldives Girl Guides Association, to discuss The meeting was held on Thursday at the President’s official residence, Mulee-aage.

During the meeting, the First Lady congratulated Niumath Shafeeq on her election and expressed pride in her achievement, noting the significance of representing the Maldives on such a prominent international platform.

Niumath commended the First Lady for her active involvement in Girl Guide activities and thanked her for her continued support in her capacity as Chief Guide. The members also discussed the various challenges currently facing the Girl Guides.

The discussions further highlighted the importance of ongoing training programmes to enhance youth development, as well as the need for a dedicated campsite to support Guide activities.
