PSM Appointed as Broadcasting Partner for FAM

The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has signed an agreement with Public Service Media (PSM) to become a strategic partner for the tournaments scheduled in this season’s calendar.

The agreement was signed by FAM President Ahmed Thoriq and Deputy Managing Director of PSM, Abdulla Yaameen Rasheed.

Following the signing, Thoriq explained that the agreement covers the broadcasting rights and PSM's role in televising tournaments throughout the 2025-2026 football season.

“I believe PSM has a long-standing and experienced team, especially in sports coverage. This MoU was signed because we are confident that PSM can play a leading role in addressing the current challenges facing football,” he said.

The FAM President expressed hope that the upcoming football season would be a highly successful one.

PSM’s Deputy Managing Director Yaameen said the agreement is aimed at supporting the FAM in its renewed efforts to strengthen football in the Maldives. He noted that the sport had received limited attention in recent months, but PSM will now work to revive interest in the game.

“The main objective is to support FAM in promoting football with renewed energy. The role of the media in the development of sports is crucial, and PSM has already demonstrated that,” he said, adding that PSM’s sports channel, YesTV, will also be further expanded.

Yaameen highlighted that the agreement will help increase the visibility and importance given to football, while enabling PSM to actively participate in the efforts to revive the sport. Under the agreement, PSM will also showcase its efforts to promote football, he said.

The agreement will also facilitate FAM to expand its role in obtaining the rights to broadcast international football to the people across the Maldives, he added.
