The incumbent Administration has achieved a historic milestone in health sector recruitment, the Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim announced during an event marking World Patient Safety Day.
The Minister highlighted the Administration's commitment to expanding health services, enhancing quality, and prioritising patient safety across the nation.
During his address, Minister Nazim emphasised the crucial importance of ensuring patient safety in the health system, outlining several key initiatives undertaken to strengthen the health sector and ensure patient safety. These include the introduction of new licensing software, the launch of a Patient Safety Champions Training programme, and the establishment of a Patient Safety Pathway, he detailed.
To address a critical shortage of medical personnel, the government has embarked on a record-breaking recruitment drive.
Minister Nazim elaborated that over 400 employees have been recruited for rural healthcare services, with more than 500 added to urban areas in the capital region. The Minister indicated that the focus is on strengthening the areas most in need of improvement.
In addition to increasing the workforce, the government has focused on significant infrastructure improvements, legal reforms, and the expansion of services.
Minister Nazim affirmed that making the population healthy is a key policy agenda for the administration, adding that it aims to work collaboratively to provide both treatment and preventive measures, with a strong effort to ensure these measures are effective.
The Minister's speech painted an optimistic picture of the healthcare sector, with a clear focus on development and improvement.
