The Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer has said that the benefits and progress of the people will be significantly enhanced with the Resilient Maldives plan.
Speaking in an interview with PSM News on the National Development Plan (NDP), the Minister said consultations are underway to shape the framework, which will set out the country’s vision for the next 20 years.
The Minister said the NDP would ensure continuity beyond changes in government, adding that the plan will be formulated with special emphasis placed on consultations with political parties and the public.
"Regardless of who is governing the country, the people can be assured that their wishes will be implemented. As part of the President’s ongoing visit to the atolls, we are working closely with local councils to gather their views”, he said.
The Minister said that when the NDP is completed, it will accelerate the achievement of development goals and deliver greater benefits for the Maldivian people.
The key objective of the National Development Plan is to establish a long-term vision for how the Maldives will develop over the next two decades, and to align government policies and initiatives with that vision. The plan will take into account the Maldives’ demographic and lifestyle changes, as well as environmental, infrastructural and technological shifts.
The Minister also noted that the NDP remains open to incorporating studies and research previously conducted in the Maldives.
