Maldives Condemns Israeli Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Calls for International Action

The Maldivian government has strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli officials and settlers under the protection of occupation forces.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said such actions constitute a blatant violation of international law and represent a deliberate provocation aimed at undermining the sanctity, legal status, and deeply rooted historical and religious significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque. These repeated violations, the statement added, are not only an assault on the inalienable religious right of the Palestinian people, but also a direct affront to Muslims around the world.

The Maldivian government reiterated its call on the international community to take decisive actions to hold Israel accountable for gross human rights violation and its blatant disregard for the longstanding 'status quo' governing one of the holiest sites of the Islamic Ummah.

The Maldives reaffirmed its solidarity with the Palestinian people and called on the international community, to uphold its responsibilities in ensuring accountability for Israel’s persistent violations of international law and in safeguarding the dignity, rights, and security of the Palestinian people.
