Ministry of Environment and Energy on Sunday said that the proposed water and sewerage network being developed in Fuvahmulah would be of the highest quality.
It said the project to develop the water and sewerage system of Fuvahmulah will commence before the end of this August.
Final preparations to begin the project are now underway, it said.
Ahmed Mohamed, Director of Fuvahmulah Atoll Council, meanwhile expressed hope of commencing the road development project of Fuvahmulah once the water and sewerage network project is complete.
The MVR285 million project to develop the water and sewerage network of Fuvahmulah was contracted to Sri Lanka-based Sierra Construction Pvt. Ltd. in May this year.
As per the agreement, the project has to be completed by the contractor in 2 years.
The Government is funding MVR110 million for the project while the Kuwait fund has granted a loan aid of MVR175 million for the project.
The project would see development of a 720 ton water tank and establishment of water supply network throughout the island.
