Thiruvananthapuram Joins IndiGo’s Maldives Map as Carrier Adds Daily Flights to Malé

IndiGo, one of India’s largest private airlines, has introduced a daily nonstop service between Thiruvananthapuram and Malé, expanding its regional footprint amid rising demand for travel between India and the Maldives.

The launch designates Thiruvananthapuram as the fourth Indian city with direct air connectivity to the Maldivian capital via IndiGo, joining Bengaluru, Kochi and Mumbai. With this addition, the carrier now operates 28 weekly flights linking Indian cities to Malé.

The timing of the expansion aligns with the start of the Maldives’ peak tourist season, a period that typically draws a surge in international arrivals. IndiGo anticipates that the new route will further bolster outbound travel from India, where visitor numbers to the island nation have been steadily increasing.

According to the airline, the route will be operated using ATR 72-600 aircraft. Flights are scheduled to depart Thiruvananthapuram daily at approximately 12:00 p.m., arriving at Velana International Airport in Malé at around 1:15 p.m. The return leg is set to depart Malé at 2:05 p.m.

The corridor is already served by Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, which maintains direct flights between Malé and Thiruvananthapuram.
