The Maldives registered a significant rise in tourist arrivals in November, reinforcing the resilience of its travel industry, a sector central to the nation’s economy. Figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment show that 195,127 visitors entered the country during the month, a 12 percent increase compared with November last year and a 2.4 percent gain over October’s 190,445 arrivals.
This momentum has lifted the cumulative visitor count for 2025 to 2,022,061 by the end of November, marking a 10 percent increase from the 1.83 million tourists recorded during the same period in 2024. The growth underscores the continued strength of the Maldives’ tourism sector, which remains the country’s most critical source of revenue.
China continues to lead as the largest source market, contributing 312,478 visitors. Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy follow, together forming the top five contributors to the archipelago’s tourism economy.
Operational data highlight the scale of demand: the Maldives now hosts an average of more than 6,000 tourists each day. To accommodate this influx, the country maintains 1,306 active tourist facilities, offering a combined capacity of 66,571 beds to international travellers.
