Bank of Maldives (BML) has celebrated 22 years of partnership with Visa with two major launches.
The new programmes include a nationwide financial literacy programme as well as the introduction of the Visa Infinite Credit Card, the first metal card introduced by BML.
The agreement for the financial literacy programme, to be executed through partnership with BML, Visa, and the Ministry of Education, was signed on Wednesday, by Minister of Education Dr Mohamed Shafeeu, Visa Country Manager for Maldives and Sri Lanka, Avanthi Colombage, and BML’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamed Shareef.
Through this collaboration, BML and the Ministry of Education will jointly execute Visa’s globally established financial literacy programmes, ‘Practical Money Skills (PMS) and Practical Business Skills (PBS)’, which will bring together trusted content on budgeting, saving, responsible use of credit, and everyday money decisions. It will also provide guidance to micro and small business owners on essential money management and business skills like cash flow, pricing, digital payments, and customer growth. Education Minister, Dr Shafeeu said the programme will help future generations make informed financial decisions and strengthen the economy.
With the launch of the Visa Infinite Card, BML became the first bank in the Maldives to introduce this highly prestigious product. The card offers premium lifestyle and travel benefits such as VIP hotel privileges, fast-track immigration, personalised meet-and-assist, and access to over 2,000 lounges worldwide. CEO Mohamed Shareef said the card reflects BML’s commitment to offering world-class premium banking services.
