Police investigate illegal shark fishing in Kulhudhuffushi

Police on Thursday launched an investigation into illegal shark fishing and trade of shark fins in Kulhudhuffushi Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

The investigation follows the seizure of a large number of shark fins in a raid on a fish drying area in the island.

According to police, they seized 92 shark fins and 42 pieces of suspected shark meat in the raid which was conducted following a tip-off.

No one has far been arrested in connection with the case, police said.
