Gov’t inaugurates three key services at Hulhudheli Health Centre

In a significant boost to healthcare access in Dhaalu Atoll, the Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has inaugurated three vital services at the Hulhudheli Health Centre, marking a transformative step for island residents.

During a special ceremony, the Minister launched an expanded 16-hour operation, initiated laboratory services, and laid the foundation stone for a new health facility extension building. These long-awaited developments fulfill a presidential promise and are expected to end the need for residents to travel for basic medical care.

“Today is a very happy day for Hulhudheli,” said Minister Nazim, highlighting that the new lab will allow for blood tests and other essential diagnostics on the island.

The upgrade from 8 to 16 hours of service ensures greater availability of care, while the planned building expansion—set to be constructed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Limited (MTCC)—will alleviate space constraints and enhance service delivery.

Separately, the Minister also presided over the groundbreaking of a new addition to the Rinbidhoo Health Centre, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in populated outer atolls.

With these developments, both communities are poised to enjoy more accessible, modern, and comprehensive health services closer to home.
