Eight greenhouses established in Vaikaradhoo as part of MAP

Members of Island Farmers Forum (IFM) of Vaikaradhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, have established eight greenhouses on the island.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, the greenhouses were funded under the “Dhanduveringe Manfaa” matching grant scheme, as part of the Ministry’s Maldives Agribusiness Programme (MAP).

50 percent of the construction costs for the greenhouses were covered by MAP. The Ministry said the greenhouses have successfully grown cucumbers and melons.

MAP is a collaboration between the Agriculture Ministry and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) working to advance the agricultural sector through various programmes and training. The programme is conducted in 26 islands across Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani Atolls.
