Work on specialised Cancer Diagnostic Centre to begin mid-year

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that work on establishing a specialised cancer diagnostic centre will begin in the middle of this year, as part of efforts to strengthen cancer diagnosis and treatment services in the Maldives.

Delivering his Presidential Statement to the Parliament, the President outlined the Government’s health sector plans, noting that the centre will include a dedicated radiation chamber which is a cancer treatment service currently unavailable in the country.

“The work of establishing a diagnostic centre, including a radiation chamber for cancer treatment, will begin in the middle of this year,” the President said.

President Muizzu also reiterated that land has already been allocated in Hulhumalé for the development of a dedicated cancer hospital as part of longer-term plans to expand specialised healthcare services.
