The British Cunard Line cruise ship, Queen Anne, arrived in the Maldives for the first time, carrying 2,669 tourists.
Cunard Line, the first company to bring a cruise liner to the Maldives, organised the current cruise through the Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA), which brings superyachts and cruise liners to the region.
A special ceremony was held onboard to mark the cruise liner’s maiden visit to the Maldives, with a plaque presented by Maldives Immigration, MAYA, and Maldives Ports Limited. The event was attended by Controller General of Immigration Ahmed Faseeh.
According to Assistant Immigration Officer Hussain Niyaz, Immigration officials travelled to Seychelles to provide clearance services to all tourists and crew members on board. The officers arrived in Seychelles on 8 February and joined the cruise liner on 10 February. The cruise liner, along with Immigration officials, arrived in the Maldives within four days, with 2,669 tourists and 1,250 crew members.
The Queen Anne is 323 metres long, 36 metres wide, and has 14 decks, featuring more than 15 restaurants, a theatre, hydrotherapy pool, gym, and fitness centres. This is the fifth cruise liner to arrive in the Maldives this year, with another scheduled for 17 February.
