Ticketing commences for RTL services in Faafu and Dhaalu Atoll

After a one-week trial run for the local communities to familiarise themselves with the services, Raajje Transport Link (RTL) Ferry Services has commenced ticketing services for Faafu and Dhaalu Atoll, respectively.

These services were inaugurated on February 17th, with the RTL network now expanded to 14 atolls throughout the Maldives. The ferries utilised in Faafu and Dhaalu atolls were constructed with assistance from the Indian government.

Faafu Atoll consists of five islands with an approximate population of 5000 individuals, whereas Dhaalu atoll comprises of seven islands with about 7000 individuals. Tickets for RTL ferries can be purchased via the RTL application, or on their website. Prices are determined based on distance, and in accordance with RTL’s guidelines.

There are four routes planned within these two atolls, with one route in Faafu atoll, two in Dhaalu atoll and one route between the two, from Nilandhoo, Faafu atoll to Meedhoo, Dhaalu Atoll.

RTL services are not yet available in Meemu Atoll and Laamu Atoll in Zone Four, as well as in Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu, and Vaavu Atolls in Zone Three.

The government aims to initiate RTL services in these six atolls and expand their network all throughout the Maldives by the middle of this year.
