Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) said Monday that it expects to complete sewerage projects in six islands before the end of the year.
The company, which is the main contractor of a majority of government-funded water and sewerage projects, said 30 projects are currently in different stages of development.
It is working to complete projects in six islands; Kelaa Island of Haa Alifu Atoll, Kanditheemu and Milandhoo Islands of Shaviyani Atoll, Alifushi of Raa Atoll, Dhiyamigili of Thaa Atoll and Maa-emboodhoo of Dhaalu Atoll, and hand them over to the Environment Ministry before the end of the year.
Managing Director of MWSC Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed said the company is working closely with residents of the islands, and urged them to share with the company any concerns they have about the projects.
Reiterating that projects contracted to the company are progressing swiftly, Fazul Rasheed said they are working to complete addition projects early next year.
Fazul said the company envisions expanding its capacity to carry out 45 projects simultaneously.
According to MWSC, it is also planning numerous programmes under its Corporate Social Responsibility.
