Maldives' Non-Resident Ambassador to Austria presents credentials

Maldives’ newly Non-Resident Ambassador to Austria, Dr Salma Rasheed has presented her letters of credence to Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of the Republic of Austria.

The ceremony took place at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria.

During a meeting following the ceremony, Ambassador Rasheed conveyed greetings from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to President Van der Bellen, as well as to the Austrian government and people.

She highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between the Maldives and Austria and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. These include commercial diplomacy and increased people-to-people contact between the two countries. While in Vienna, Ambassador Rasheed also held talks with senior officials from Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria. The discussions focused on ways to further develop bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums.

Ambassador Rasheed was accompanied at the credential ceremony by Aishath Rayahyn, second secretary at the Maldives’ permanent mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

In addition to her role as non-resident ambassador to Austria, Dr Rasheed also serves as the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the UN offices in Geneva and as Non-Resident Ambassador to Switzerland.
