Immigration revokes passports of MDP Chairperson and five others

Maldives Immigration on Thursday cancelled the passports of Maldivian Democratic Party – MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed and five others.

In addition to Ali Waheed, Maldives Immigration revoked the passports of Mohamed Allam Latheef, Ahmed Ishfah, Mohamed Hussain, Mohamed Aseel Ahmed and Mohamed Visham. The department cancelled their travel documents citing obstacles faced by the judiciary and law enforcement authorities in conducting trials and investigations related to them.

“The individuals can contact the Foreign Ministry and request for travel documents, in the event they wish to return to the country,” the Maldives Immigration said.

Earlier, Interpol issued red notices for Mohamed Allam Latheef, Ahmed Ishfah, Mohamed Hussain, Mohamed Aseel Ahmed, and Mohamed Visham.
