Maldives awarded MVR 1.3 million to fight tobacco use

Maldives has been awarded a grant of MVR 1.3 million to fight tobacco use.

The Health Protection Agency – HPA received the grant from the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use, which is run by renowned American businessman Micheal Bloomberg.

Speaking about the grant, Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said the money would be utilised for activities conducted by the Tobacco Control Board. He said the money would facilitate awareness campaigns against the use of tobacco.
