President emphasises people-to-people ties with Bangladesh

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections between the Maldives and Bangladesh, as he conveyed Independence Day greetings to Bangladesh.

In a message shared on social media, President Muizzu extended greetings to Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government and the people of Bangladesh.

The President described Bangladesh’s Independence Day as a significant moment in the country’s history, symbolising freedom and hope for the future. He expressed confidence that the occasion would inspire continued efforts towards national development.

Emphasising bilateral relations, President Muizzu described Bangladesh as a trusted neighbour and development partner, noting that close people-to-people exchanges have long defined the relationship between the two countries. He said these connections have played a vital role in strengthening cooperation and contributing to shared progress.

The President also noted ongoing efforts to further enhance collaboration, expressing satisfaction with the positive developments in Maldives–Bangladesh ties.
