President to depart for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed will depart for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday, 6 April 2026, to perform Umrah, according to President's Office.

In a statement, the President’s Office said the Government of Saudi Arabia will cover all hospitality and related expenses for President Muizzu and his wife during the visit. According to the statement, arrangements for the trip were finalised in early February.

This marks the second time President Muizzu has travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah as a guest of the Saudi leadership. In 2024, President Muizzu and his wife also undertook an Umrah pilgrimage at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Madam Sajidha Mohamed also travelled to Saudi Arabia last year to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
