Sino-Maldives relations fortified in recent years: Iruthisham

The close relations between the Maldives and China have gone through a further fortification over the last few years, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam said on Thursday.

She made the statement while speaking as the Chief Guest at a reception held to celebrate the 67th National Day of China.

Speaking at the reception held at Hotel Jen in Male’, Acting Minister Iruthisham conveyed warm greetings and good wishes on behalf of President Yameen Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, and the People of Maldives to President Xi Jinping and the friendly people of China on the occasion.

She also highlighted the strong bilateral and economic cooperation between the two countries and thanked the Government and people of China for the generous assistance provided to the Maldives. She also noted that the China – Maldives Friendship Bridge will stand as an iconic symbol of the close relations between the two countries.

The reception was hosted by Wang Fukang, Ambassador of China to the Maldives.
