President Muizzu publishes annual financial disclosure under constitutional requirement

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has published his annual financial statement, as required under Article 120 of the Constitution.

The Constitution mandates that the President to disclose his assets, income, liabilities, and business interests annually to the Auditor General’s Office.

According to the financial statement, the President received the MVR equivalent of USD 18,484 as salary for the past six months. He also reported USD 15,564 as rental income from a rowhouse in Hulhumale’, as well as USD 11,673 in family donations.

The disclosure shows a Bank of Maldives (BML) current account balance equivalent to USD 11,987, along with USD 110,342 in his savings account. His savings account at Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) holds USD 65. The statement also lists an outstanding loan or debt of USD 85,555 owed to Maldives Finance and Leasing Company (MFLC).

The President’s declared assets include properties listed as M. Dhimyath (Male’, Amber Terrace 2 (Hulhumale), Dhimyath (Vashafaru, Haa Alif Atoll) , M. Fig, as well as a car valued at around USD 16,861.
