The Maldives and the United Kingdom (UK) have discussed strengthening defence relations.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed and British Ambassador Nicholas David Low.
During the discussions, both sides spoke about further improving bilateral ties. Minister Hassan Rasheed thanked the UK for helping strengthen the Maldives’ defence capabilities.
The government aims to increase the capacity of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). MNDF already conducts various training programmes with several countries, including the UK government.
