The Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has opened applications for its second-semester courses.
According to the university, a total of 67 courses are being offered across multiple fields.
Main fields of study in which courses are available are:
- Qur’an and Hadith
- Sharia law
- Fiqh
- Islamic Studies
- Imamship
- Language Education
- Finance
- Accounting
- Leadership and Administration
- Management
- Journalism
Speaking on PSM News’ Raajje Miadhu programme, Dean of IUM’s Kulliyah of Education, Dr Aishath Sheena said the intake is a good opportunity to pursue higher education. Students who recently completed A Levels can also apply for these courses. She highlighted that students can access courses from their own islands, and that physical classes will be conduced at seven campuses in addition to IUM’s main campuses. Sheena said students can study both physically at campuses and through online classes.

IUM is offering:
* 1 PhD programme
* 15 master’s programmes
* 16 bachelor’s degree programmes
* 1 associate degree programme
* 11 diploma programmes
* 22 certificate programmes
* 1 post-diploma course
Sheena said the Master’s in Teaching Higher Education, and Master’s in Research Publication programmes offered by the university will be useful pathways toward PhD studies. She also mentioned the Diploma in Special Education course conducted with the Ministry of Education to train teachers for children with special needs.
Speaking on the programme, Assistant Professor of IUM’s Centre for Research and Publications, Dr Mohamed Solih highlighted the Certificate Level 4 in Spiritual Intelligence Counselling offered this semester, and said the course focuses on counselling based on Islamic principles.
