Saudi Arabian low-cost airline Flynas has resumed its scheduled services to the Maldives. Marking the relaunch of the route, the airline’s first flight arrived on June, 20 at Velana International Airport (VIA)
According to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the resumed service will operate three flights per week between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and the Maldives.
MACL stated that this represents an important opportunity to further strengthen air connectivity between the two countries.
To mark the resumption of the service, the Flynas flight arriving from Riyadh received a traditional water salute upon landing at Velana International Airport. Passengers were also given a warm Maldivian welcome featuring cultural Boduberu performances. Commemorative gifts were presented to both arriving passengers and those travelling on the airline as part of the special occasion.
MACL said the return of Flynas services will provide a significant boost to tourist arrivals from the Middle East market.
Saudi Arabia continues to play an important role in the Maldives’ tourism industry, and the company believes the renewed flights will help increase demand from the region.
MACL added that it is continuing efforts to attract more airlines to operate services to VIA. The company’s main objective is to work closely with international airlines to further develop the Maldives’ aviation sector while maintaining the highest standards of service for passengers.
