The Maldives has strongly condemned what it described as Israel's ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, accusing it of targeting civilians, healthcare facilities and medical infrastructure in violation of international law.
In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldivian government said the attacks had resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, including women and children, and described them as "blatant violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law."
The government called on Israel to comply fully with its obligations under international law and to uphold the ceasefire agreement, warning that continued violations risk undermining efforts to reduce tensions and achieve lasting peace.
It also renewed its appeal for the protection of civilians, medical facilities, humanitarian workers and civilian infrastructure, while urging the immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance across the Gaza Strip.
The Maldives called on the international community to take "immediate and decisive action" to ensure respect for international law and to support efforts towards a permanent ceasefire.
Reaffirming its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, the government reiterated its backing for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
