The Auditor General's Office has officially launched its new Strategic Plan for 2026–2029.
The plan was inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during the closing ceremony of the Symposium of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It outlines the Office's priorities, strategic direction and key areas of focus for the next four years.
Auditor General Hussain Niyazy said the strategy had been developed with a modern, reliable and results-oriented vision. He explained that the new plan prioritises strengthening debt management systems, responding effectively to changes in the operating environment, and assessing how effectively public policies are being implemented.
He further noted that the plan includes ambitions to expand forensic audits, information systems audits and other specialised audit services. It also focuses on enhancing the institutional capacity of the Auditor General's Office, increasing the use of technology in audit work, and adopting modern auditing methodologies.
In addition, the Strategic Plan places emphasis on strengthening collaboration with national stakeholders as well as international partners to support the Office's work and advance public sector auditing.
