The Manhattan Grand Hotel in Hulhumale’ is now open for bookings for conferences, exhibitions and other events starting next month.
World Business Pvt Ltd has been awarded the contract to build and operate the hotel. The hotel will be a 5-star property featuring 162 rooms, a banquet hall, multi-purpose and conference hall, a swimming pool. The hotel will also have four international food and beverage brands, a gym and spa.
According to the hotel’s Chief Operations Officer, it aims to provide a venue for large-scale conferences, exhibitions and events for government institutions, state-owned companies, corporations and international organisers.
The hotel is expected to be completed by mid-August and will be linked to the new terminal of Velana International Airport (VIA). A total of 12 airlines are expected to sign agreements with the hotel.
Under an agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the corporation will receive USD 11 million in property value and USD 933,852 as annual rent. The state will receive USD 2.5 million in annual taxes.
World Business Pvt Ltd has also been awarded a long-term contract under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, to manage the electricity, water and maintenance services for the USD 7 million Youth Centre, Media Village, Medical College and Heritage College
