Yazmeed Mohamed appointed CEO of MPAO

Yazmeed Mohamed has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Maldives Pension Administration Office, bringing more than 20 years of experience in senior roles across independent state institutions, public auditing and business management.

Most recently, Yazmeed served as Vice-President and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). During his tenure, he also served as Secretary of the committee responsible for reviewing disciplinary matters involving judges, as well as a member of the Judicial Academy Advisory Board and the committee responsible for evaluating judges.

Before joining the JSC, Yazmeed served as a Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) from 2014 to 2019. In that role, he investigated corruption cases, reviewed governance practices at institutions, and led major anti-corruption initiatives.

His career in public service began at the Auditor General's Office, where he worked for 10 years.

Alongside his professional experience, Yazmeed is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Open University Malaysia. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting with First Class Honours from Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives).

The Maldives Pension Administration Office administers and manages the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme and the Basic Pension for elderly citizens.

Since its establishment, the Pension Office has remained one of the largest institutional investors in the Maldives. The net asset value of the fund it currently manages stands at approximately USD 1.81 billion.

The Pension Office currently manages pension funds for more than 107,000 members while providing Basic Pension payments to more than 25,000 elderly citizens living across the Maldives.
