The Parliament has concluded the sittings of its second session of the year and gone on recess.
Under the rules of the Parliament, the second session must conclude by 15 August. However, as a number of outstanding matters remained before the chamber, the session was extended twice. The latest extension ran until 27 August.
Under the Parliament rules, parliamentary sittings are divided into three sessions each year. The first session runs from 1 February to 15 May, while the second session runs from 1 June to 15 August. The third session runs from 1 October until the end of November.
Although a session normally ends within its designated period, its duration may be extended if important matters submitted to the Parliament remain unfinished. Such an extension must be approved by a vote among members of the parliament.
The Parliament did not go on recess during the first session of this year. Due to outstanding important matters, the first session continued, and the second session began immediately after the first concluded, without the parliament taking a recess.
According to the rules, this year’s third session of the Parliament will begin in October.
