Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has been awarded the contract to renovate Thaa Thimarafushi Fitness and Recreation Centre.
Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness, Abdulla Rafiu, and RDC Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem signed the agreement at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness. Minister Rafiu signed on behalf of the ministry, while Managing Director Nazeem represented RDC.
Under the agreement, RDC must complete the renovation and hand over the facility within 180 days of starting work.
The project forms part of a special initiative by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to promote a healthier population in the Maldives. The Government aims to establish fitness centres and outdoor gyms on every island in the country.
RDC awarded contract to develop Galolhu futsal ground
RDC has also been awarded the contract to develop the Galolhu futsal ground, with work due for completion within 120 days.
Minister Abdulla Rafiu and Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem signed the agreement at the same ceremony held at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness.
The project will develop a futsal ground on the vacant plot next to Gaakoshi Flats in Galolhu, with USD 98,657 allocated from the State budget.
