IUM aims to expand ICIA’s international reach

The Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) wants to expand the university’s International Conference on Intellectual Advancement (ICIA) internationally, Assistant Professor Dr Mariyam Shareefa has said.

She made the statement while speaking at the closing ceremony of the ICIA Conference 2026.

In her address, Shareefa said the ICIA, which brought together international scholars, academics, researchers, students, professionals and policymakers for discussion and knowledge exchange, provided valuable information on a range of topics. She said the university wants to improve the quality and grow the conference year by year, with the aim of making it a richer source of knowledge. She added that past years’ efforts have contributed to the conference’s growing public recognition.

The 2026 conference, organised annually by IUM’s Centre for Research and Publication, was held from 30 to 31 August, with research papers presented across various fields and awards presented to participants, including best research paper in the full paper category, outstanding presentation and the IUM Dean’s Research Advocacy Award.
