Qatar Airways to increase flights to the Maldives

Qatar Airways has decided to increase the number of weekly flights to the Maldives.

A statement released by Qatar Airways said the increase is part the airline’s plan to expand global connectivity, with flights to 170 countries during the winter season. While the number of flights to some destinations will be increased, flights to the Maldives will increase from 12 to 21 per week starting 25 October.

Qatar Airways is one of the main airlines used by tourists traveling to the Maldives. The government expects the additional Qatar Airways flights to help increase tourist arrivals, particularly from the Middle East, Europe and the United States.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office on 10 September, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen said cooperation with the tourism industry has produced good results and is expected to improve further in the last quarter of the year. Seven more airlines are also scheduled to operate flights to the Maldives during the upcoming season.
