President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stressed the importance of innovation, skills development and digital solutions in strengthening the Maldives’ tourism industry.
The President made the remarks in a social media post marking World Tourism Day, commending the people, communities and industry partners who have helped establish the Maldives as a leading global destination.
President Muizzu said tourism remains a driving force behind the country’s development and global connections.
Noting the transformation of the tourism industry through digital technologies and artificial intelligence, the President stressed the need for the Maldives to continue adapting, innovating and leading.
He said the Maldives is committed to embracing innovation, investing in skills and leveraging digital solutions to strengthen the tourism industry and enhance visitor experiences.
President Muizzu also emphasised the importance of harnessing the opportunities of the digital age while preserving the Maldives’ natural beauty, unique identity and tradition of warm hospitality.
World Tourism Day is observed annually on 27 September to highlight the importance of tourism and its contribution to economic and social development.
