An Interpol training programme has begun at the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement (NCPLE) campus in Addu City, marking the first international course to be conducted at the college, Maldives Police Service have said.
The programme is Interpol’s flagship Instructor Development Course, organised by the Capacity Building and Training Directorate. It was officially inaugurated this morning at a special ceremony held at the NCPLE’s Addu City campus by Head of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Abdul Rahman.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahman said the programme is the first international training programme to be conducted at the NCPLE’s Addu City campus. He described it as a significant achievement for the college and a historic milestone.
A total of 23 officers from 13 countries representing different Interpol regions are participating in the programme.
The specialised training is designed to provide law enforcement officers with foundational and technical methodologies for delivering training. Its key objectives include familiarising participants with adult learning principles, instructional systems design and modern tools used in police training.
As part of the programme, participants will learn to develop their own lesson plans using instructional systems design models, enhance public speaking and presentation skills, learn techniques to engage participants, and develop skills to assess learning outcomes.
Police said the training also provides an important opportunity for law enforcement officers from Interpol member countries to come together, strengthen professional connections at the international level and enhance cooperation between institutions.
