Governance reforms have accelerated development: President

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said on Saturday that the progress achieved by the country in the past 3 years were the results of the reforms undertaken by his government.

He made the remarks at a rally held last night in Dhuvaafaru Island of Raa Atoll Saturday night.

Speaking at the rally, organised by the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), the President said major governance reforms had accelerated development, and improved the quality and efficiency of public service delivery.

He said his government’s development agenda reflects the people’s hopes and aspirations, and urged the people to support the administration’s efforts to deliver on its electoral pledges.

Speaking at last night’s rally, Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar praised President Yameen for putting the national interests ahead of partisan politics, and for having the courage to make difficult decisions to protect the rights of the people.
