Government reviews progress of key development projects

In line with the Government’s commitments to the people, a special meeting has been held to share the latest updates on major development projects being carried out across the Maldives and to discuss ways to accelerate their implementation.

The meeting, held at the President's Office, was attended by members of the Cabinet and senior officials from relevant government institutions and companies. The main purpose of the meeting was to identify swift solutions to various delays affecting major projects that have a direct impact on the public, and to discuss extensively the steps required to complete the work according to the established timelines.

A key focus of the meeting was for ministers to review the implementation status of major development projects that are currently under way or planned. Discussions also focused extensively on identifying financial, technical and administrative challenges and obstacles faced during project implementation, and finding swift and sustainable solutions to address them. In addition, emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination between ministries and companies and ensuring that their efforts remain aligned towards a common objective.

Speaking at the meeting, the President highlighted the importance of completing the development projects promised by the Government to the people to the highest possible standard, while keeping costs low and ensuring the best possible quality. It was also decided to further strengthen the system for monitoring the progress of each project by giving individual projects specific priority and closely tracking their implementation.

The President also instructed the Cabinet to accelerate a number of stalled projects, together with solutions introduced to address difficulties arising from the ongoing challenges in the external environment. In addition, the President called for greater determination and closer coordination to ensure that individual projects are completed within their designated timeframes.
