Nila Coral Island Maldives opens in Gaafu Dhaalu

Nila Coral Island Maldives has opened in Koddegalu, becoming the third resort in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation said the opening would create new employment and business opportunities for residents of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, allowing them to benefit from tourism development closer to home.

With Visit Maldives Year 2027 approaching, the ministry said each new resort would help the Maldives welcome more visitors while extending the economic benefits of tourism to more islands.

Nila Coral Island Maldives is a luxury resort designed to accommodate up to 40 guests. It features seven island-based villas overlooking the ocean, comprising two-bedroom villas, three-bedroom villas and a five-bedroom premium villa.

Bookings are now open. The resort is located approximately 15 minutes from Maavarulu Airport.

The two other resorts currently operating in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll are Ayada Maldives and NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort.

According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, 180 resorts are currently operating across the Maldives, providing a total of 45,171 beds. Of the 1.6 million tourists who have visited the country so far this year, approximately 1.2 million have stayed at resorts.
