Businesses from China, India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expected to participate in this year’s Maldives Expo, Minister of Economic Development, Trasnport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has announced.
The Maldives Expo 2026 will feature seven districts, two more than last year. The new additions are the Visitor Economy District and the International District.
The fair is organised jointly by the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) and the Economic Ministry. It is scheduled to run from 25 October to 2 November.
Speaking at a press briefing at the President’s Office, Minister Saeed said 15 Chinese businesses would participate in the International District, showcasing modern products, tools and technologies that could create added value for Maldivian small businesses. The Chinese companies will also provide information to help establish business connections with local entrepreneurs.
“Chinese businesses will introduce tools and technologies that can add value to small businesses in the Maldivian economy, alongside displays of the latest products. Fifteen Indian entities will also participate, while efforts are under way to secure the participation of businesses from the UAE,” Minister Saeed said.
The Maldives Expo attracted 280 participants last year. This year, participation has increased to 780, while the number of items represented at the fair has doubled, according to the minister.
Minister Saeed said this year’s event would feature several new and distinctive attractions, with a particular focus on the creative economy.
