More than 200,000 people have visited the ongoing Maldives Expo 2026, Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has said.
The minister made the remarks in a social media post celebrating the success of the Maldives Expo 2026.
Minister Saeed said that following a 10-year hiatus, the exhibition returned in 2025 with a broader vision and a wider scope, bringing together the exhibition and expo under an expanded format. He added that efforts to further develop the event would continue each year.
The minister said the initiative aims to advance the creative economy and achieve President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s target of increasing the creative economy’s contribution to 15 per cent of the Maldives’ economy by 2030.
According to Minister Saeed, a total of 205,000 people have visited the Maldives Expo since they opened, averaging 41,000 visitors per day.
This year’s exhibition features seven dedicated districts, including two new districts. These are the visitor economy district and international disctrict.
A total of 419 exhibitors are participating in this year’s expo, showcasing 4,404 products. This represents an 83.5 per cent increase compared with last year, when 240 exhibitors presented 2,400 products.
Individual participants make up the largest share of exhibitors, with 321 individuals taking part. The exhibition also features 75 businesses and 16 organisations representing persons with disabilities, alongside participation from educational institutions, associations and state-owned enterprises.
