Gov’t. reveals plans to roof sidewalks of Majeedhee Magu

Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the sidewalks of Majeedhee Magu will be roofed under the ongoing road redevelopment project in Malé City.

The project will see the redevelopment of 13 major roads in Malé City, including Majeedhee Magu, the capital’s main thoroughfare.

In the ongoing effort to revamp the cityscape of the capital, damaged roads will be resurfaced and a proper drainage system will be installed to prevent flooding caused by heavy rain.

As per the work schedule, Majeedhee Magu is the first road to get a makeover and it will be completed by February 4th.

Speaking to the media about the project, Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu said the redevelopment work on Majeedhee Magu is progressing swiftly and it is expected to be completed on schedule.

He said that both sidewalks of the road will be roofed once the resurfacing work is completed.

Work is now underway on the third section of Majeedhee Magu.

The project, which is expected to be completed in September 2018, will alleviate difficulties faced by pedestrians and motorists, and make the roads more accessible and safe for everyone, according to the Housing Ministry.
